AHOS Baseball Team

Not your typical sports magazine's list The following is our choices for the most talented and most shameful players in baseball past or present to fill our team.  These players had to have a good combination of both to be considered.  If you think we've forgotten someone or you think one of them shouldn't be on here, let us know at ahosteams@athletehos.com

 

C-Darrell Porter (1971-87)
Admitted to abusing alcohol, cocaine, pills, and marijuana


1B-Jason Giambi (1995- )
Outed by baseball digest and later admitted to using steroids and HGH and named in the Mitchell Report released in December 2007 as doing so


2B-Lee Lacy
(1972-87)

Testified in the “Pittsburgh Drug Trials” of 1985 to having used cocaine (suspended for 60 days but was allowed to play if he donated 5% of his base salary to a drug-related program and performed 50 hours of community service)


3B-Ken Caminiti
(1987-2001)

Admitted to using steroids and named in the Mitchell Report as doing so, arrested for possession of cocaine


SS-Neifi Perez
(1996- )

Suspended for 25 games and then 80 games for testing positive for a banned substance on a 2nd and 3rd occasion



OF-Darryl Strawberry
(1983-99)

Tested positive for cocaine multiple times, violated house arrest and parole, arrested for domestic abuse multiple times (no charges were filed), indicted for failing to report income, suspended for 75 days by MLB


OF-Albert Belle
(1989-2000)

Assaulted fans and media personnel, suspended for 10 days for using a corked bat, arrested for suspicion of stalking an ex-girlfriend (plead guilty and served 90 days in jail and 5 years’ probation)


OF-Dave Parker
(1973-91)

Fined 10% of his salary in ‘86 for continually buying cocaine but avoided suspension


DH-Jose Canseco
(1985-2001)

The bash brothers used to claims those massive forearms were the results of curling some massively heavy dumbbells. Turns out, there was a little more to the story. Conseco admitted to using steroids and claimed to have injected other players with them, named in the Mitchell Report as doing so, arrested for domestic abuse and battery


SP-Denny McLain
(1963-72)

Convicted of laundering money from his own company (sentenced to 8 years in prison), convicted of racketeering, extortion and cocaine possession in ‘68, suspended by league multiple times


RP-Jason Grimsley
(1989-2006)

Admitted to using steroids, HGH, and amphetamines, named in the Mitchell Report as doing so, co-operated with officials to name other players who allegedly used performance-enhancing drugs


Closer-John Rocker
(1998-2003)

Made racist, sexist, and anti-gay remarks about New Yorkers in a SI Magazine interview and was forced to undergo psychological testing


Manager-Billy Martin
(1969-88)

Known for altercations with players and front office personnel while managing, got into many fights outside of baseball including one with a marshmallow salesman
