AHOS Football Team

The following is our choices for the most talented and most shameful players in football past or present to fill our team.  These players had to have a good combination of both to be considered.  If you think we've forgotten someone or you think one of them shouldn't be on here, let us know at ahosteams@athletehos.com

 

QB-Michael Vick (2001-06)
Fell from the cover of Sports Illustrated to prison. He plead guilty to dog fighting charges (sentenced to 23 months in prison), tested positive for marijuana


RB-O. J. Simpson (1969-79)
Charged with murder of ex-wife and her friend (later acquitted), charged with armed robbery of sports memorabilia (result pending)


FB-Obafemi Ayanbadejo (1998- )
Suspended for violating anabolic steroids policy


WR-Terrell Owens (1996- )
Fined multiple times for brash end zone celebrations, spit in opponent’s face


WR-Rae Carruth (1997-99)
Found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and using an instrument to destroy an unborn child


TE-Mark Chmura (1993-99)
Accused of having inappropriate sexual encounter with a 17-year old girl


T-Kyle Turley (1998- )
Fined for throwing opponent’s helmet across field and making obscene gesture, allegedly gave coach a death threat


T-Bryant McKinnie (2002- )
Plead guilty to disorderly conduct and fined for involvement in alleged boat sex party with teammates, arrested for aggravated battery of a nightclub security guard


G-Conrad Dobler (1972-81)
Known around the league during playing days as arguably dirtiest player ever


G-Steve Wisniewski (1989-2001)
Fined $65,000 in a single season for dirty play


C-Barret Robbins (1995-2003)
Charged with attempted murder of police officers (sentenced to 5 years probation), went missing before Super Bowl XXXVII (didn’t play in game)


DE-Leon Lett (1991-2001)
Lost a TD by fumbling premature celebration in Super Bowl XXVII, cost team a win by muffing a blocked FG attempt allowing team to hit next attempt, suspended multiple times for drugs


DE-Lyle Alzado (1971-85)
First major U. S. sports figure to admit to the use of steroids


DT-Albert Haynesworth (2002- )
Suspended without pay for stomping on opponent’s unprotected head after allowing a touchdown


DT-Tank Johnson (2004- )
Found guilty of having firearms in vehicles or without owner’s identification multiple times (served jail time and fined)


LB-Ray Lewis (1996- )
Charged with murder of two people outside a nightclub (later acquitted but found guilty of obstruction of justice, received fine and probation)


LB-Lawrence Taylor (1981-93)
Caught abusing drugs and alcohol multiple times, admitted to hiring prostitutes to go to opponents’ hotel rooms the night before games to tire the players out


LB-Bill Romanowski (1988-2003)
Fined multiple times for bad behavior including spitting, kicking, and throwing footballs at opponents


CB-Adam “Pacman” Jones (2005- )
Arrested 5 times in two years and questioned by police 10 times (suspended for entire ‘07 season), charged with assault and drug possession on some occasions


CB-Fred Smoot (2002- )
Plead guilty to disorderly conduct and fined for involvement in alleged boat sex party with teammates


S-Rodney Harrison (1994- )
Voted “dirtiest player” by peers in ‘04 and ‘06 polls in Sports Illustrated, fined and suspended multiple times for dirty play, tested positive for HGH


S-Sean Taylor (2004-07)
Charged with DUI (later acquitted), charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and battery (charges were later dropped via plea bargain), spit on opponents multiple times


K-Mike Vanderjagt (1993-97 CFL, 1998-2006 NFL)
Criticized teammates by saying they didn’t show enough emotion and said coach was too mild-mannered


P-Todd Sauerbrun (1995- )
Charged with DWI, charged with assault and disturbing the peace, investigated for steroids, suspended by league for testing positive for ephedra


Head Coach-Bill Belichick (1991-95, 2000- )
Fined maximum amount for involvement in a video taping scandal of opponents’ signals during a game (also cost team a fine and possible draft picks)
