Former forward for the Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers and currently with the Sacramento Kings. Drafted 16th overall in 1999 by the Bulls. Named to 2004 All-Star team. Named 2004 Defensive Player of the Year.

Shameful Moments:

-Applied for a job at Circuit City while with the Bulls before his rookie season just to get an employee discount

-Fined $5000 on October 4, 1999 and sent home from the NBA rookie orientation for missing a meeting

-Fined $7500 and suspended for 1 game on February 21, 2001 while with the Bulls for fighting with Milwaukee Bucks F Glenn Robinson during a game

-Broke two of NBA legend Michael Jordan’s ribs on June 13, 2001 during a pickup game

-Accused by girlfriend Jennifer Palma on May 25, 2002 of grabbing her around the neck during an argument (no charges were filed, but a protective order was made against Artest)

-Fined $10,000 on December 19, 2002 while with the Pacers for pushing Dallas Mavericks G/F Raja Bell during a game and not leaving the court in a timely manner after being ejected for his 2nd technical foul

-Once came to a Pacers practice in a bath robe

-Fined $35,000 and suspended for 3 games on January 4, 2003 while with the Pacers for breaking a television camera after a loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden

-Suspended for 4 games on January 30, 2003 for confronting Miami Heat coach Pat Riley on the sidelines during a game and flipping off fans (the suspension cost him $84,000)

-Suspended for 1 game on February 26, 2003 by the Pacers for breaking a framed picture of himself in Conseco Fieldhouse

-Suspended for 1 game on March 9, 2003 for his flagrant foul on Portland Trail Blazers G/F Bonzi Wells (6th of the season means automatic suspension)

-Suspended for 1 game on March 13, 2003 for his flagrant foul on Philadelphia 76ers G Eric Snow (7th of the season means automatic suspension)

-Suspended for 2 games on March 20, 2003 for his flagrant foul on Boston Celtics G/F Paul Pierce five seconds into the game (8th of the season means automatic 2-game suspension)

-Fined $20,000 on April 3, 2003 for making an obscene gesture to fans in Cleveland while playing the Cavaliers

-Suspended for 1 game on March 19, 2004 for elbowing Trail Blazers G Derek Anderson during a game

-Fined $10,000 on May 25, 2004 for making an obscene gesture to fans during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Detroit Pistons

-Suspended for 2 games on November 9, 2004 by Pacers coach Rick Carlisle after he allegedly asked for a month off because he was tired from promoting the musical group Allure’s new album which was on Artest’s production label

-Got into a scuffle with Pistons C Ben Wallace while with the Pacers on November 19, 2004 after he fouled Wallace when the game was effectively over and responded to fan John Green throwing a cup of beer at Artest by jumping into the stands and confronting the wrong man (a brawl erupted between Detroit fans and Pacers players when Indiana G/F Stephen Jackson punched the man Artest was confronting - Artest returned to the court and punched Detroit fan A. J. Shackleford who was heckling him - Indiana F Jermaine O’Neal punched fan Charlie Haddad, who was on the court during the melee - the game was called with less than a minute to go with Indiana winning 97-82 - Artest was suspended for the remainder of the ‘04-’05 season which was 73 regular season games and 13 postseason games and this is the longest suspension for a non-drug related incident, Jackson was suspended for 30 games, O‘Neal 25 games [15 after appeal], Wallace 6 games, Indiana G Anthony Johnson 5 games, and Indiana G Reggie Miller, Detroit G Chauncey Billups, C Elden Campbell, and F Derrick Coleman all for 1 game for leaving their benches - Artest lost $4,995,000 in salary and was sentenced to a year of probation, community service, anger management, and a $250 fine after pleading no contest to assault and battery charges)

-Appeared on cover of December 2005 issue of Penthouse and said in an interview with Maxim that he wanted to box Ben Wallace on pay-per-view

-Fined $10,000 on December 15, 2005 for making public statements that he wanted to be traded from the Pacers (recanted two days later saying he wanted to stay)

-Charged on March 21, 2007 with battery and corporal injury to a spouse, false imprisonment, and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime from a March 5 domestic dispute at his home with wife Kimsha Hatfield (each charge could have a maximum sentence of 1 year in prison - Artest plead not guilty to charges the next day - a California judge ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away from his wife and kids until further notice - sentenced for 100 hours of community service and a 10-day work project in May)

-Suspended for 7 games without pay on July 14, 2007 for pleading no contest to spousal abuse stemming from the March incident (suspension started with first games of ‘07-’08 season)
