Very Shameful
September 18, 2007 What exactly is going through the mind of O. J. Simpson? With the recent allegations that he committed armed robbery in order to get some of his personal memorabilia back from collectors, he’s back in the news yet again. It looks like with all the media attention from his book, If I Did It: Confessions of a Killer, he’d try to keep things as calm as possible. Then he gets arrested for allegedly breaking into a hotel room to get back his memorabilia. It’s strange how some celebrities complain about the paparazzi not leaving them alone and yet others crave it. Simpson has been in the public eye for the last 13 years, but not for his great play on the gridiron. It’s been for his wild lifestyle and brushes with the law. You’d think a man who was acquitted of two murders when there was strong evidence that suggested he did it would try to law low and live out his days in peace. However, Simpson has done the exact opposite. Simpson was ordered to pay DirecTV Inc. $25,000 because he pirated broadcast signals from them. And he’s in the news every time he makes a little bit of money because just about all of it goes to the estate of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown as he’s been ordered to do by the civil suit that followed his criminal trial in 1995. He’s lost his Heisman Trophy, royalties for appearing in the video game All Pro Football 2K8, and royalties from his recently released best-selling book. So why would a man do something as stupid as robbing people in a Las Vegas hotel room? Simpson claims he was just taking what was rightfully his and that there were no guns used. That may be true. But the way he went about it was probably a bad idea. And now an audio tape has surfaced that has a man, presumably Simpson, saying not to let anybody leave the hotel room among other things. More and more evidence is pointing at Simpson yet again. I may not know what it’s like to have the celebrity lifestyle, but I do know right from wrong. Simpson apparently hasn’t learned that yet. Very shameful.
